The Franciacorta route wine starts in Mandolossa, just outside Brescia (exit A4 west Brescia). Going towards north-east it arrives in Gussago and Cellatica, villages with the most ancient vocation for wine. The itinerary continues through Rodengo Saiano, the old way along the Olivetan abbey of Saint Nicholas, and Ome, a popular location thanks to its thermal baths. From Monticelli Brusati, through spectacular vineyards, the route arrives to the Medieval castles of Passirano and Bornato, and then to the villages of Calino and Cazzago. Passing by Rovato, also worth visiting Coccaglio, Cologne and Erbusco. The tour wanders about in other many charming villages: Borgonato, Provaglio of Iseo, Timoline, Colombaro, Nigoline and Adro. Following the old centre of Capriolo the route ends in Paratico, on the coast of Sebino lake. It houses the remains of Lantieri castle which gave refuge to the great poet Dante Alighieri during his exile.
